What do you skate? I’ve been riding 7.75s almost my whole life, but I just gave in a bought a 8.0. If it’s such a huge trend that’s been around for a few yeas now, with some cats skating even bigger boards up to 8.5", there’s got to be an advantage to it. I’m also going back to Almost which I’m super stoked about.
Now I just need Skatewharehouse to pull through and get that crap shipped ASAP.
BmanUltima's car still hasn't been fixed yet, he'll get on it tomorrow, honest.

When I skated I always road the biggest board I could get. That was like 20 years ago though. Think came out with a board that was huge compared to other boards at the time and I bought a couple of those.

I have a 1990? Santa Cruz Jeff Kendall, with Indy 169's and OJII slime balls.
Here is an internet photo of the deck. I need to get an actual photo of the board, it is pretty sweet.

I have an 86 Caballero Powell/Peralta. I don’t skate it anymore now as it’s starting to fall apart, I landed promo on it and it chipped pretty bad, thankfully the griptape is holing the chip on. I’ll probably epoxy it back together someday so it looks better. I got it at a Goodwill for 4 bucks, alone with a Lance Mountain Board of the same vintage that was only 3 bucks! I gave that one to a buddy of mine though. I got plenty of skating out of it though, I think it’ll just be a garage decoration from now on.
Sorry for the sideways image, for some reason Photobucket won’t let me rotate it.

You know it’s old school when there are grind protectors on your trucks.

Yup, you don’t see that anymore. When I first picked it up I actually thought the trucks were plastic. like a Walmart broad.

I always wanted to get into Landies. I wanted their DH board, but by that time I didn’t have the money and kinda moved away from trying to get into down hill.
I road a lot of Loaded. 3 dervishes. My first one was stolen. My friend replaced it with an old fixed up 1st gen that I cracked along the sidewall after many shove-its. The 3rd the same friend gave me to replace the cracked one. That one was almost new as he was getting free stuff from Loaded all the time. I still have that one but gave it to my girlfriend. I also have a beat up Bhangra, and for a while a proto Tan Tien.
I gave away my Longboard Larry 5ft Old School dancer to a my buddy moving across the country that i didn’t use anymore. I still have a longboard larry humu.
Lastly I had a Comet Pagan which was DH set up and a few assorted plastic banana boards from the 70's and a small homemade board.
Well shit, now I need to get back into longboarding again, it’s been too long to let that stuff rot

When I was still skating 4 years ago I did the same thing you did. I was skating ~7.6's. I moved to an 8.0 to follow the trend. Took me a week or so to get used to it, but loved it. Made for nice high popping, slow spinning flip tricks. Just give it a little bit to get used to.

I’ve got a 42" Landyachtz pintail. It works well for me. There aren’t very many hills around here so I just cruise around, and use it to get to work every once a awhile. I’d like to get like a 36" cruiser with a kicktail just something easier to maneuver downtown. not being able to ollie can be a PITA sometimes.
